MABAMBA BAY WETLAND - AN IMPORTANT BIRDING SPOT IN UGANDA

Mabamba wetland is a large area stretching through a long narrow bay, bordered with papyrus towards the western main body of Lake Victoria in Mpigi district. It has the status of unprotected area with bird categories which are considered to be globally threatened and Lake Victoria basin biome species. This Important Birding Area (IBA) is one of the best marshy areas along the northern shores of Lake Victoria for birding tours in Uganda

Mpanga forest is rather a compact patch of natural evergreen rain forest covering an approximate area of 453 hectares. It is situated in Mpigi District, Mawokota – 37 kilometers southwest of Kampala and it is conveniently located meters away from the Kampala - Masaka highway, providing a conducive accessibility. It takes only 1 hour to drive to Mpanga forest from Kampala.
